STEPHAN J. SALO
“A Rising Star”

Born in Geelong, Stephan (pictured above) joined the GAS around 12 months ago. He began painting at eight years of age and now at 34 years of age holds 26 years of experience in what he loves to do the most - “paint”.
During his school years at St Josephs, art was his great love, and from there moved on to the Gordon where he studied “graphic art design”.
Some years ago he undertook lessons at the old GAS site at Sparrow Park with “still life and outdoor scenes” his main work.
By 2003 Stephan was living in WA and painting ‘full time” supplementing his income with picture framing as a sideline.
He soon after presented his first Solo Exhibition at “Aspro House” Araluen Park, Perth.
Seeking a change of scenery, Stephan then moved to Cairns, Qld working in Graphic Art circles and again included picture framing as a sideline, but always carrying on his great love for outdoor site oil painting “set up the easel and paint”!
Stephan now resides “back home in Geelong” and teaches art to the elderly on a regular basis at McKellar Centre…which both he and they enjoy immensely! Stephan now also “varies his mediums” between water colour and oils to provide variety.
He as always supplements his income with picture framing and offers this service to GAS members at reduced prices.
Why not log into geelongartsociety.com.au to view some very pleasing work by this up and coming artist and potential tutor.
